It's Looking Good...

I have been working on the small dress. I have used some white broadcloth for the lining, which makes the flowers in the pink fabric 'pop' out. I'm going to leave the underskirt a little longer. I'll also be finishing the armholes with extra-wide bias in white. I just placed the skirt together with the bodice to see what it will look like. I may have to shorten it a little before I put it all together with the zipper, (I'll just shorten it at the waist, to keep the border on the skirt).

The Dress Project

I have started a sewing project. It's going to be a small dress. The pattern is a New Look #6577, it has a few different variations of the dress, and also includes a hat. The fabric has this pretty (cut out) flower pattern. The fabric I found a few months ago, and thought that it looked interesting, (so into the 'collection') It has a flower border on both cut edges, not the selvedge, so it actually has two borders, and was aproximately 2 yards long , and aprox. 54" wide, (I can't remember, and I forgot to measure it before I cut it).

So, I had enough from one side to make a small dress, and will have enough from the other side to make a skirt. The fabric being very light, and with some of the flower pattern being cut out, I decided to line it with a cotton/poly broadcloth in white, as the flowers are outlined in white. My plan is to have both done before Easter, so both Mother and Daughter can wear them. I should probably post a couple of updates as I work on it.

I should add a note, these are not for me, pink is not one of my favourite colours.

Still here,

I am still around, just haven't had much to blog about.
Just in a 'grey' mood.
Rain can do that. I have ideas, and now would be a good time to start one of my projects. But which one?

This is Youky, and she is a schnoodle.
Which is part schnauzer and part poodle.
I'll let her put something in here once in awhile.
She likes to go for walks, and plays with her many toys, her favourites are balls.

This is a fabric wallhanging that I recently finished. Found the fabric at Wal-Mart in Honolulu on my last vacation. It has just plain black fabric as a backing, cut larger than the panel, which I just folded over to also use as a border, it has a polyester batt filling, not the fluffy one. I left an opening, put a curtain rod through it, and used some sticky pegs to hold it up.

The First Post

I'll be posting from time to time on a variety of subjects. Some of them might include photos. I might post about a project, from start to finish, and everything inbetween. I might post about a trip. This could be about almost anything.
